In Honor of Jim (Butch) English
We are saddened to report that our manager and friend, Jim (Butch) English, passed away on Friday, July 2nd. A gathering of family and friends was held at Duck Creek Marina on Friday afternoon, July 9th at 4pm.
James Douglas “Butch” English
James Douglas “Butch” English, 77, Duck Creek Marina, New Bern, NC, passed away on July 2, 2021. He was born August 22, 1943 in Bridgeton, NC, the son of Marguerite English Hare and Claude Lincoln English, both deceased. He is survived by his wife, Omaira Del Carmen Lobatomolino English and daughters Jennifer Lynne Groff (Matthew) and Jill Diane Lerma (Justin), California. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Julia Rose Lerma, Jacob Ryan Lerma and Alexandria Skye Groff.
Jim is survived by sisters Emily “Beth” Hare (James) and Sarah Claudette “Bonnie”, Auburn, California, former wife Judith Lee English, California, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, two stepdaughters, Marilu Ellero and Andrea Ellero, and stepson Diego Ellero, and a stepgrandsons, Jacob and Adrian.
He is predeceased by brothers William Joseph and Claude Lincoln “Buddy” and foster sister Erica Clinton.
For the past three years, Jim was General Manager of Duck Creek Marina in Bridgeton, NC. During his lifetime Butch served in the US Army for three years, received his aircraft powerplant mechanics license, worked as the Director of Maintenance at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for twenty-two years in Santa Cruz, CA. Jim’s numerous interests included Scuba diving, private pilot, photography, world traveler, and cowboy. Jim’s knowledge and skills were broad and deep and his high standards of service will be greatly missed by his customers and crew.
A gathering of friends and family was held on Friday, July 9 at 4 p.m. at Duck Creek Marina to remember and honor Jim.
